It's Thursday!

Conquering simple tasks that made you nervous before
Today I photocopied notes in the library. Something I've never done before. Now it sounds silly, but I tend to get nervous about little things like this, because I just fear that I'll screw something up. It's irrational, yes, but I really can't help it. I'd been putting it off for days, but I finally photocopied some notes from a book, and it was a breeze. Talk about a confidence booster. I love completed small tasks like this, because it makes me feel like I can conquer the world.

Doing better on a midterm than expected

Random opportunities and compliments
There is this very nice Australian girl who used to live in my house. She stopped by today and mentioned that she had to go scouting for people to work at American Apparel so if there was anybody who was interested we should tell her. I immediately put up my hand and said I would love to work at American Apparel. She got my information and took my picture. Not only is that awesome, but then my roommate said I looked really pretty without my glasses [not that I'm not pretty when I'm wearing them] and suggested I get contacts. Again confidence booster.

Halloween anticipation
My house is going to have an epic Halloween party tomorrow night. I'm going to be Mrs. Robinson. I'm pumped.

Being done 4/5ths of my midterms
I've been a bit busy lately because of schoolwork, but it's nice to know that I'll be done my midterms soon

Late night chats
Last night I was feeling a little bit down and then my friend Alie started talking to me on Facebook chat. My mood improved greatly and it gave me a chance to air some grievances I've been having in my life. It was reassuring, plus she taught me something that I'll be sharing with you guys soon.

Halloween anticipation
My house is having a huge party on the Friday before Halloween. It's going to be epic.

Top 5: Make-out songs

Credit: Unknown

In no particular order

1. "Playground Love" - Air
This is soft and sort of playful. Containing lyrics like "I'm a high school lover, and you're my favourite flavour" sung in a breathy male voice. It's sweet.

2. "I Put a Spell On You" - Creedance Clearwater Revival
This is more guitar driven rock compared to the other ones. It's almost pained, but also energetic and a little sexy.

3. "6 Underground" - Sneaker Pimps
This has a good beat to it, but is also nice and slow. You can move along with the music. *winkity wink wink*

4. "Into Dust" - Mazzy Star
This is the most mellow of the bunch. The lyrics are a little depressing, but who pays attention to the lyrics when you're kissing.

5. "Dirge" - Death in Vegas
This song is unbelievably sexy. It starts out super slow and just builds and builds and builds. It would be great for making out or as a precursor to other things...

What are your favourite make-out songs?

Why dating gives me a big ol' headache

Found: Le Love

It's interesting jumping into a brand new romance almost immediately after ending my two and half year relationship. And by interesting I mean nerve-wracking and weird. Granted I hadn't seen or spoken to my ex in about eight months so it was hardly an ordeal and therefore makes this exciting.

"I can kiss you? Sweet!"

It's also opened my eyes to just how sheltered I was in my past relationship. It took two months before we kissed and another four before we ever made out [I know, I'm super lame, but he was Mormon so forgiveness please]. This time we kissed drunkenly on the dance floor.

"That means he likes me, right?"

Before I'd even broken up with my boyfriend, my new roommates/friends saw a connection between me and this guy. Let's call him Doctor [he's pre-med, which is hilarious and awesome by the way]. It's funny how you're talking with a guy casually and it turns into something more, but you don't really notice.

So yes, there was kissing, and he got my number. Within that first week we hung out four times, three of those times involved a party of some sort. Therefore we were drunk three out of those four times. I'm a class act, straight up.

But here's the thing, I am completely dumbfounded by this situation. I tend to get tongue-tied around him and don't even get me started on texting him.

"How do you properly convey "I like you" without coming out and saying it? And does the fact that he didn't text me back mean he doesn't like me?"

I over-think sometimes. The other day he came over after being out with my guy roommates and I hung out with them until 4 in the morning. I really wanted to kiss him, but there were people around and when he left I just said I was going to bed and awkwardly waved while letting my roommate show him out. Then I sat in bed afraid that he thought I was running away. So I texted him to say that I had really wanted to kiss him just then and that I thought he should know. He called me and asked if he could come back and visit. He lives close but he still came back at 4:30 in the morning just to see me. So yeah, I guess he likes me.

I also ran into him going to the grocery store and he gave me a kiss goodbye. That was Saturday. I've put in a bunch of effort so far. Now it's his turn to text me. I don't care if it seems like archaic anti-feminist dating rules. I want him to come to me for a bit.

Top 5: Movies to watch when it's raining outside and you're sick with a cold

In no particular order:

1. Pretty in Pink
It's sweet enough to keep you satisfied, but not so much it gives you a cavity and a stomach ache. Unless her prom ensemble makes you nauseous.

2. Lost in Translation
It's subtle, quiet and pretty. It will leave you feeling blissed out.

3. Fight Club
The violence and mind-fucking will help you forget how sick you feel.

4. Rushmore
It will make you laugh without wanting to puke your guts out.

5. Annie Hall
Because hey, at least you aren't Woody Allen
