Hey all

where have you gone? i miss your blog—it’s been ages!

I know, I know. Right now I’ve been so wrapped up in school and lacking motivation for school that the blog has taken a back seat. I also hate to be that person that apologizes every time life gets in the way of the internet. This summer I shall overhaul everything. And in the meantime I have my tumblr…

Top 5: Songs for Spring

Hello blog world. I'm slowly coming back to you. It's difficult to come up with posts when it's so dreary outside you want to crawl into a hole surrounded by blankets while avoiding your mountainous [and growing] pile of homework.

But today is a good day. My sister and her friend are coming to visit, along with my roommate, Kayla's boyfriend and his friend [who I met two weeks ago and have been texting pretty consistently. He looks like Prince William!] It's also ridiculously sunny outside and I'm going to walk to the train station avec Kayla. Excited!

So, to celebrate the weather, my Top 5 songs for Spring.

In no particular order
1. "Young Folks" - Peter, Bjorn and John.
I dare you to drive out into the middle of nowhere with your friends one night, and blast this song and dance. I. Dare. You.

2. "Beautiful Child" - Rufus Wainwright

3. "Sad Sweetheart of the Rodeo" - Harvey Danger

4. "Mushaboom" - Feist

5. "Portions for Foxes" - Rilo Kiley

These were what I listened to on repeat for many springs when I was a teenager. Nostalgia.

Now go walk around in the warm weather. You'll feel good.

What do you mean I'm less than 3? TECH-NO-LOGICAL RO-MANCE

Credit: Unknown

I'm becoming a bit of a tech whiz [if you can even call it that] between, blogger, twitter, facebook and tumblr, I'm becoming a bit of an internet addict. Yes, that is exactly how I'm prefacing the announcement that I'm on formspring. Because I'm sure all four of you have questions you're dying to ask me. Or not, that's cool too.

Also, my awesome friend Emily has a Tumblr that I'm thoroughly enjoying.

Things I Love Thursday: February 18, 2010

Carey Mulligan
Credit: Unknown

Just saw An Education, and although I found it to be all over the place in certain aspects, I liked it, and enjoyed the aesthetic. I love the early sixties as a time period anyway. And could Carey Mulligan be any cuter? I think not.

Olympics
I don't think I've ever watched the Olympics as much as I have the past couple of days. My reading week has involved waking up at noon, turning on the coverage and then watching with my roommates until midnight more or less. It's kind of cool having it in Canada though, and although that "I Believe" song makes me want to puncture my eardrums, I'm very proud of my countrymen.

Boldness
Having the ability to surprise myself, and exceed my own expectations. It's a wonderful feeling. Even better, when you just do it without giving it much thought. I think people need to strive for that more.

Happy Valentine's Day

Found: Le Love

"February is mid-winter. February 14th is mid-February. Therefore February 14th is mid-mid winter, the bleakest day of the year. Also love is celebrated" - Lemony Snicket Calendar

This is my first Valentine's day single in awhile. Although, my ex-boyfriend wasn't even in the country last time. Well neither was I. I was in Florida with my family so it wasn't the pity fest it could have been at the time.

Now, I have mixed feelings about the holiday. I like the sentiment but hate the execution. I'm not the type of girl that expects flowers, and candy or anything expensive on the day. [And as a side note, diamonds are the worst thing you can get a girl for Valentine's Day. I mean how are you going to top that? You're setting yourself up for failure there]. My ex and I didn't make a big deal of it, because our anniversary was like 10 days afterwards anyway, but in general I'd save the fancy dinner for a day like your anniversary anyway when restaurants aren't so crowded.

So, I don't know what my plans are. I feel like a movie night with my single roommates are in order. With treats and stuff. Yup, let's celebrate with copious amounts of junk food. And perhaps scary movies. That sounds delightful.

In My Head You're All Brand New

New headphones! Pretty badass right?

My lovely roommate Mike helped me decide on them. [Well I did most of the decision making but he helped with the taking the reins and getting help from the workers there which is helpful due to my sometimes crippling social phobia. You know what I'm talking about Gillian.]

I don't know if my apple earbuds were just that broken or what, but the headphones feel like I'm being enveloped with music. And everything else sounds muffled which is odd, but I like it at the same time. Although I'm afraid people will be yelling for me and I won't be able to hear them... Oh well.

With love and surround sound.
